About Anthony Guilbert:

Educator, writer, publisher, entrepreneur, and Qigong teacher, Anthony Guilbert is a rare combination of qualities that best fits under the mantle of "renaissance man."

For the last decade Guilbert has made his living as an educator, teaching writing and working primarily with “at–risk” and untraditional college students. In 2004, just six years into his teaching career, he was included in Who’s Who Among American College Professors. He holds a Masters in English Literature from Hofstra University, and a Master of Fine Arts in Writing from Long Island University.

A recipient of The Steinbeck Project's award for poetry, Guilbert’s published works include journals, anthologies, and four books of poetry. To see his complete Curriculum Vita please click <here>.

From 1990 to 2006, Guilbert operated Karma Dog Editions.  Karma Dog’s publishing history included volumes by: Vince Clemente, Siv Cedering, and David Axelrod, just to name a few. The press also designed and produced books for Writers Ink Press, Street Press, Jolla Poets Press, and Paradise Island Press.  Between 2000 and 2003 Guilbert produced the Alive After Five Concert Series (2000-’03); the One Love Festival (2002), and the Sun-Shaman Reggae Festival (2000). With the launching of his Mighty Rogue Press in 2008, Guilbert returned to his love of small press publishing.

Guilbert’s interest in the martial & spiritual arts began when he was just 12 years old, and include advanced studies in Soto & Rinzai Zen Buddhism, Kodokan Judo, and Aikido. With a strong background in the 'gentler' Japanese martial arts, his interest in Taiji and Qigong began in 1993 after a nearly debilitating car accident.

By 2000, Guilbert had put aside his martial path and began to pursue energy arts as a practice and area of scholarship. In recent years, he has studied with Chinese Master Yun Xiang Tseng, James Mac Ritchie, and Dr. Roger Jahnke. He is a certified teacher of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi with Dr. Jahnke’s Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi 'in Santa Barbara, CA and credentialed by the state of Colorado to teach holistic movement arts in the community college system.

Guilbert’s life finds its bearing by these lines from Henry David Thoreau: “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” As both a writer and a teacher, Guilbert’s main goal is to inspire an “artistry for living.”
